Year 7

An Introduction to Drama: This topic introduces all the techniques and terms that they will need in drama for all the years that they study it.

Fairy Tales: This subject allows pupils to explore fairy tales through different genres, periods and cultures of drama. This topic links in with theatre from different periods and cultures and with English.

Journey: This topic focuses on looking at the journey we take in our lives, looking at the choices we make and how we determine our own destiny. This topic also looks at the world and how it is changing. This topic links into Geography and Wellbeing.

Year 8

Entrapment: This topic looks at the lives of people who have been trapped by a person, a group of people or society. We look at topics such as War, Rosa parks and Slavery. This topic can be linked to History.

Theatre in Education: This topic Looks at Creating, Performing and Responding to the pupils own piece of Theatre in Education. Pupils will have to research topics and then communicate a meaning to an audience. The pupils will look at topics such as bullying, mental health, eating disorders and internet safety. This topic links in with Wellbeing.

Howling Manor: This topic looks at exploring a ghost story and focus on whole class drama and investigation techniques. This topic links to English.

Year 9

Romeo and Juliet: This topic looks at the theme of conflict within this play. Also we look at similar plays with this underlying theme such as West Side story. Pupils will be creating a piece of Physical Theatre with Music as a stimulus. This links in with English, Dance and Music.

Our Day Out: This is a play written by Willy Russell. Pupils will explore the characters, themes and plot of this play in a practical manner, looking at voice and movement.

Masks: This topic looks at learning the complicated skill of mask work. Pupils will explore a range of techniques when using masks and then create, perform and respond, their own mask work performance.

Pupils will be assessed in accordance with the national strategies and Arts Council levels in drama and we will focus on Creating, Performing and Responding.
